See the Rising Stars of Australian Short Film
AUSTRALIAN SHORT FILM TODAY, the short film wing of AUSTRALIAN INTERNATIONAL SCREEN FORUM in New York, is an international traveling roadshow featuring award-winning Australian short filmmakers from the past year. It provides a unique showcase for industry and cinephiles to view a curated selection of rising stars of the Australian screen industry.
This year’s 90-minute selection includes the drama JUDAS COLLAR which won best narrative short film at Austin Film Festival and is Academy Award eligible; the mysterious NURSERY RHYMES which was nominated for best narrative short at the Australian Academy of Cinema & Television Arts; AN ACT OF LOVE featuring identical twins, which is the Australia Directors’ Guild winner; the poignantly reminiscent HIGH SCHOOL LOVER which premiered at Flickerfest; a cyber take on love with A QUICK LOVE STORY which had its global premiere at Australian Film Today in New York to audience acclaim; and a ringer from New Zealand, FIRE IN CARDBOARD CITY, an animated disaster movie that premiered at Tribeca, with The New Yorker calling it “clever and freewheeling.”
