Australians in Film: A New Chapter Begins

Dear Members and Friends

After 24 incredible years supporting Australia’s best film, television and online professionals in Los Angeles and beyond, AiF is evolving to better support you. Australia remains one of the most under-recognised creative markets in the English-speaking world, with a wealth of talent across our industry.

In today’s rapidly changing screen landscape, we have an extraordinary opportunity to produce more world-class stories, and AiF is committed to building the pathways to make that happen.Since AiF’s founding 2001, our mission has been clear: educate, connect, and provide access for Australians working on the global stage. That mission remains—but how we deliver it is changing.

Join us for a rare, behind-the-scenes experience: a Live Online TV Writer’s Room, led by veteran writer/producer Joe Perrachio (The Flash, The Messengers). Over the course of four sessions you’ll witness (or be part of!) the collaborative magic that turns a roomful of ideas into a cohesive episode.

The Inside Track with Catherine Smyth-McMullen

Award-winning Australian writer Catherine Smyth-McMullen has built a career that spans across multiple continents - pitching and selling projects to partners in the US, UK, and Europe, and proving that opportunities in the global screen industry don't have to be limited by where you're based. Now, Catherine is bringing her international connections and unique perspective to AIF’s new series - The Inside Track.

As host, she will lead insightful conversations with global industry professionals who are shaping the future of screen storytelling, and spotlighting the executives, producers, sales agents, distributors and marketing teams whose work is vital in bringing projects to audiences worldwide. By focusing on practical insights and non-traditional pathways, The Inside Track gives Australian creatives important knowledge and access to international networks, and the essential tools for competing on the world stage.

And that’s not all. From networking coffees to panels on perfecting the art of the logline, we’re rolling out programs built for the real needs of today’s storytellers.

We truly appreciate your support over the years. In order to continue growing and adapting, we need to evolve as well. So, as we look ahead to 2026, we invite you to explore our new Professional Development Programs and join us on this exciting new chapter of AiF. We can’t wait to see what we’ll create together!

Thanks for being part of our story. Here's to this new chapter—let’s make it extraordinary.

Warmly,
Australians in Film
