Aussie family adventure film Oddball from Stuart McDonald has been snapped up by US-based Momentum Pictures at the Toronto Film Festival.

Global Screen brokered the deal for the fun flick, which stars comedic actor Shane Jacobson (Kenny), Sarah Snook (The Dressmaker), Deborah Mailman (Redfern Now, The Sapphires) and 11-year-old up and comer Coco Jack Gillies.

Based on actual events, the story follows an eccentric chicken farmer (Jacobson), who with the help of his granddaughter (Coco Jack Gillies), trains his mischievous dog Oddball to protect a penguin sanctuary from fox attacks in an attempt to reunite his family and save their seaside town.

No word yet on when Momentum Pictures will release the family film in the U.S. In the mean time, watch the Aussie trailer below.

Snook was named a runner up for the AiF Heath Ledger Scholarship in 2011.
