AiF PRODUCERS LAB
Feature Writer Employment Deal: What to Avoid?
Feature writer employment agreements are perhaps the most common types of agreement executed in the entertainment industry because a producer cannot make a film without a screenplay. Many films are not based on books and their producers either purchase a completed screenplay or retain a writer to develop an original story idea. In either case, the producer generally acquires all rights to the screenplay.
This AiF Producers Lab will consist of a lively panel discussion with the partners of entertainment law firm CTP Media Partners, Inc., David W. Beck and Matt Cooper, who will focus on the major points of negotiation and some of the more contentious issues that can arise when hiring a feature screenplay writer. The lab will provide some helpful tips for both producers and writers alike.
