AiF Presents: Diversity Discourse Sessions

Q&A with Jake Choi

Moderated by Kristian "Krit" Schmidt

Join us for an intimate chat with a range of industry professionals who can speak to the importance and challenges of diversity in Hollywood.

While the industry hits new milestones in progression everyday, it still has a long way to go when it comes to ignorance, education and power.   Each session features a special guest working in the writing, acting, development or representation fields, offering insight through their backgrounds and experiences.  Each speaker will address a specific focus on a different equity issue such as racism, gender equality, homophobia/transphobia and intersectionality.

Please join us Monday, August 6, with special guest JAKE CHOI, a Korean-American actor. Jake will share his experiences, highlighting opportunities and challenges with a particular focus on diversity. Hosted by AiF Member Krit.

Born and raised in Queens, JAKE CHOI is a series regular on the Fall 2018 20th Century Fox / ABC comedy series SINGLE PARENTS from creators Liz Meriwether and JJ Philbin.   He is currently filming a supporting lead role in the Warner Bros. / MGM feature film THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR (dir. by Ry Russo-Young), starring alongside Yara Shahidi. He previously filmed a supporting lead role in the MGM Digital feature KEEP HOPE ALIVE. Jake's television credits include recurring roles on the HBO drama SUCCESSION and the Darren Star / TV Land comedy series YOUNGER, as well as guest appearances on Hulu's DIFFICULT PEOPLE and Comedy Central's BROAD CITY. He has also appeared on LAW AND ORDER: SVU, THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA, GOTHAM, UNFORGETTABLE, LETHAL WEAPON, and HAWAII FIVE-0.

Moderator: Kristian "Krit" Schmidt

With arguably the best head of hair in the business, New Zealand born Kristian 'Krit' Schmidt broke into the scene as a VJ for MTV Australia and New Zealand after coming out on top in a nationwide search in 2014.

Earning a Master's degree in Education, a conjoint degree in Law and Arts and being a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright scholarship, it's not just street smarts that the quick-witted 32-year-old brings to his new life as an actor and entertainer in LA.
