Established in 2008 in memory of Australian actor Heath Ledger, who served as an ambassador for the organization, the Scholarship is open to all young and emerging Australian actors 18-35 years old.

GatewayLA is a script development program for film and television writers. It aims to develop audience-driven, Australian-created content for US and international audiences, with the aim to spotlight and promote a select list of screenplays.

We hold over 40 programs and events a year, ranging from scholarships, labs, seminars and industry screenings. AiF welcomes both Australian and American film and television industry professionals and companies to become members.

Screen Australia's Talent LA at Charlie's
Last week, AiF’s Creative Collective at Raleigh Studios played home away from home to a large group of Aussie creatives. A delegation of 11 directors and 6 screenwriters were funded by Screen Australia to travel to LA to attend the program dubbed ‘Talent LA’. The screenwriter’s delegation was co-sponsored by the Australian Writers Guild (AWG) and Scripted Ink, and supported through Screen Australia’s Enterprise program.
Starting From Now Creators Share their Recipe for Web Series Success
For writer/director/producer Julie Kalceff and actor/producer Rosie Lourde, their hit web series Starting From Now was a passion project that surprised even them with the extent of its success and resonance with audiences globally. The five series of Starting From Now have amassed over 33 million views to date and been watched in more than 230 countries. In March 2016, seasons 4 and 5 were acquired for broadcast and screened on Australia’s SBS2 television network.

Australians in Film is proud to open ‘Charlie’s’, a bespoke hub for the Australian film-making community in Los Angeles, offering a unique creative workspace for AiF industry members to conduct business, collaborate and network. Named after Charlie Chaplin and located at the historic Raleigh Studios, in the heart of Hollywood where Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks made films and frequently played cards, ‘Charlie’s’ has been co-funded by Screen Queensland, Screen NSW, AFTRS and Film Victoria as an invaluable home base for Australian film-makers while they are in Los Angeles.
